MAGENTO SSL

Check out some of the steps for adding SSL support in Magento:

Installation of SSL certificate is different on various hosting systems and therefore you would need to check with your hosting provider.

It would be better to get dedicated IP set up on your domain before installation of Magento as you would be moving Magento to a new location on the server if case you would want to add SSL later on.

Also depending on your server setup you should symlink your secure directory to your public directory. You must SSH into your server and in case you are opting for DirectAdmin its better to go to the following folder:

./domains/yourdomain.com/

After this type ls –l and you would come across the list of folders and now go ahead and type the following command: ln -s private_html public_html.
The command might be run as root therefore ensure you have access to the box. In case you have permissions in DirectAdmin you could go to Domain Setup, after that click your domain and then enable Make private_html symbolic link to public_html. After that Click on Save and you would be symlinked automatically.
After that log into Magento Admin, followed by System, Settings, Web and ensure that the Secure Base URL is set to https://www.example.com
The steps have been completed.
