HTTPS SSL

 Keep in mind that SSL connection over HTTPS is slower as compared to HTTP and therefore secured connection should be applicable to pages containing and processing of sensitive information. It would be better to running the admin interface through an SSL. At the end of the day this helps in increasing the script's backend security.

The https:// protocol can be used in exactly the same manner as the http:// protocol and the difference is that HTTPS uses a default port number of 443 and the HTTPS is automatically performing SSL negotiation and hence sending data in encrypted form.
